So here's my first link up and a sneaky-peekie for you!  I'm playing with a couple brand new products in our new catalog that will be officially released July 1.  I was so excited to attend convention where I could play with and purchase some new stamp sets and products!  I was THRILLED to find a COFFEE set available for purchase and I was even able to pick up TWO!!!  One for me, one for YOU!?!  The stars were aligned for us coffee crafters.  

I used the new set called Hey Sugar!  It's one of two brand new coffee loving stamp sets in the new catalog.  WAHOO!  I also used our brand spankin' new Pan Pastels!  They are soooo soft, silky and smooth!  Notice the backdrop?  That's new paper too.  It comes from our new Faith Journey Line.  

My Bloom Wall Stencil was used with some Brushed Gold Pan Pastels to create a light shimmery effect on the background.  I also used this shimmery powder on the vellum and the embellishing papers.  

The little embellishment was created using our Border Basics Die set and a coffee filter spruced up with a dusting of Pan Pastels.  Excuse my fingerprint on the coffee pot.  LOL

Hello Journey Friends,

While I'm here having a ball at Convention in HOT Arizona, I wanted to pop in and say CONGRATULATIONS to my niece Megan who is graduating today.  I wish I could be there to see you walk across the stage...and to see your final dance recital.  I'm thinking of you today and know that your future will be so bright!  Keep being AMAZING!

To create this card, I began with a wash of Blue Lagoon and Sweet Berry Color Splashes.  When combining these two colors, you can achieve a lavender and a fuschia color blend as you see in the image.  After the ink was dry, I added a message to Megan using Black Micron pen. After that I arranged my Marquee Type letters in a block formation onto a stamp positioner and stamped the image with Versafine Onyx repeatedly until it was bold and vibrant.  After that, I applied some Journey Black Embossing Powder with my Heat Gun.  

Next, I headed over to my sewing machine to stitch a few random zig-zags and straight stitches onto the stamped panel.  I added a bit of Modeling Paste onto the Ball Chain Stencil with my finger.  Then applied some splatters of Gold Silk.  

The final touch was to add a bit of Watermelon Fusion Satin Ribbon (I attached to the back with White Liner Tape then stapled the edges to tone down the "girly" nature of the card.  I stamped a star (from the Yummy Wishes set) with Versafine Onyx ink.  The star was embossed with Black embossing powder AND was sprinkled with some Black Licorice Sparkle Dust (sorry, retired).  I fussy cut the star and popped it up onto the knot to finish it off!  The stamped panel was attached to a River Stone card base with dimensional squares and the edges were hand-curled to add dimension and character.

Graduation-Palooza!

Hey Journey Friends!

As I'm madly prepping for Convention trades (AZ bound next week!) I set aside some time to create a few high school graduation cards for my nephew Alex and my niece Megan.  They both graduate this year and this Friday (June 3, 2016) my nephew graduated.  Megan graduates next Friday.  I'm hoping I can watch her graduation on Facebook Live.  We'll see if my sis can get that figured out.  HA HA.

Anyway, I'm sharing the first of the GRAD cards I created...Here's to Alex, the newest HS Graduate!

 

To create this card, I started out with a little wash of Blue Lagoon Color Splash and a little Shimmer Silver Splash along the edge.  Adding a bit of silver adds a slight shimmer and beautifully elevates the design.  After that dried, I wrote a little message to Alex over the ink using a Black Micron Pen. 

Next, I rubbed a little bit of Modeling Paste onto my favorite stencil Starburst Lines using my finger.  I find that using my finger instead of a spatula allows me to manage the thickness of the paste in varying locations on my piece.  I like a thin layer- where the paste translucently overlays the inked surface.  I did a quick blast of heat gun to dry.  After that, I headed to my sewing machine so I could add a few stitches for contrast/texture/dimension.  You can see below that I just did a few random passes with my machine using the zig-zag and the straight stitch.  

After stitching on the watercolor paper, I aligned my stamps from the Marquee Type stamp set onto a stamp positioner and stamped the marquee letters until they were perfectly inked with Versafine Onyx ink.  I applied some Journey Black Embossing Powder to the letters and hit it with my heat gun.  

Finally, I splattered a bit of Silver Silk onto the piece and mounted it to River Stone Cardstock then used dimensional squares to attach the stamped panel to my Blue Lagoon Card base (side fold).

Since Alex will be attending Full Sail University in Florida to pursue a degree in Video Game Design and Media Technology, I added some fun images from the set called Soldier Boy on the inside.  It's got a great collection of fun sentiments and images that are perfect for the video game enthusiasts.

Whale Wishes

Thought I'd pop in this lovely weekend to share a little card I created for the CYCI #122 challenge this week.  It's been a while since I've participated in a sketch challenge, but I loved the sketch and had some extra time to play, so I figured it was a good time to dive right in!

I chose to use a new stamp set from Fun Stampers Journey called Nautical Sketch.  This set can be found in our Spring Into Summer mini inspiration book/catalog.  I love the sketchy designs in this set and have found it to be a very versatile set.   All of the images are just perfect for masculine and feminine projects.  I prefer to have my cardfronts "sentiment-less" but to follow the sketch, I hunted for a sentiment that would work and not overpower the design.  I hope it works!  The sentiment is from the Little BIG Greetings set (Retiring soon!  On sale at 40%off now!).

As you can see, I also added some embossing using my favorite stencil called Starburst Lines. Modeling Paste helped give texture, and Denim Days/Buttercream inks helped to add color and define the dimensional texture a bit more.

I selected Denim Days, Oatmeal Cookie, Whip Cream cardstock and pulled in a bit of the coordinating Nautical Adventure Prints paper that coordinates perfectly with the set.  I colored the whale with a few Copic markers (C&W grays) then added some Liquitex Iridescent Bright Silver Ink over the top to give it some sheen.  To finish it off, I used a few scrap cuts of gold Vellum Designer Prints, a few twirls on Natural Journey Twine and a couple leaves diecut (from the kraft paper all our products are packed and shipped in) from the new steel rule die called Summer Bouquet.

Chevron-a-ganza!

Having fun playing with the chevron background stamp....Added a few diecuts, some fun splattering and sparkles and poof...a fun little card.

Gold Silk and splashes are fun!
not sure about the pink on the underside of the mini bow but...I suppose I can add a pop of pink elsewhere to make it look "on purpose".  ;)
